The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) is currently recruiting for multiple Nurse Clinician 2 limited-term employment (LTE) positions to join the Nursing Services team. WVHK is a long-term-care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O' Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton.

Position Summary

 

The Nurse Clinician 2 is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care to a mostly geriatric and/or disabled population at the WVHK. The incumbent provides direction to other staff in the provision and coordination of member care, and monitors care given by other health team members on a unit, floor, or in a building. All activities are performed in accordance with applicable standards of practice, facility policy and procedures, and WDVA, WVHK and governmental rules and regulations.

Salary Information

 

The pay for this position is $40.79 - $47.21 per hour with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.

A $3.00 per hour temporary add-on will be paid for hours worked in an eligible RN shift on Saturday and Sunday (between Saturday, 12:00 a.m. through Sunday, 11:59 p.m.) at the Veterans Home until further notice.

This job does not offer employee benefits.  

The position is in pay schedule-pay range 11-02.

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

 

These are flexible part-time positions with the option to pick up additional hours as desired with no required overtime. Shifts are available AM, PM, NOC, holidays and weekends. Candidate preferences gathered at time of interview.

LTE jobs are limited to 1039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits.

Job duties require the ability to assist in mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a background check prior to an offer of employment.

Qualifications

 

Minimally qualified applicants must be:

  • Licensed or eligible for a license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or Nurse Licensure Compact state.

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:

  • Working collaboratively (e.g., interdisciplinary healthcare teams, developing and implementing care plans, establishing positive relationships, etc.); and/or
  • Using computers and applications (e.g., electronic technology, electronic charting systems, etc.); and/or
  • Providing nursing care (e.g., assessing and documenting patient status, providing direct and indirect patient care, administering medication and treatments, investigating, and solving problems, assisting, and training other staff, directing activities based on patient needs, etc.); and/or
  • In a relevant setting (e.g., long-term care, geriatric, etc.)
