The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is recruiting for a Limited Term Employment (LTE) Archivist position to work as part of the team at the award-winning Wisconsin Veterans Museum (WVM), sharing the stories of our state’s military veterans and their history-shaping exploits. The position is headquartered in the heart of Madison, close to the Capitol and State Street.

Position Summary

 

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Museum Assistant Director this position has overall responsibility for the digitization and creation of corresponding metadata for fully processed images from the Post-Civil War to World War I era in the holdings of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum archives.

Salary Information

 

The pay for this position is $21.00 per hour. This job does not offer employee benefits.  

This position is in pay schedule and range 13-04.

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

 

This position will work on a part-time basis working up to 20 hours per week. 

LTE jobs are limited to 1,039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits.

Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

Qualifications

 

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience with:

  • Analyzing written content and render analysis in written format; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; and
  • National standards and practices that govern the cataloging of primary source materials and descriptive content standards from a variety of disciplines in the creation of descriptive content (e.g., MARC21 format, Encoded Archival Description, Encoded Archival Content, Dublin core, LC name and subject authorities, Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, Describing Archives, etc.); and
  • Computer use, including Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience with at least one of the following:

  • Archival principles and practices; or
  • Graphic, audio and moving image formats and the metadata requirements for their access and preservation 

Per Wisconsin Statute 230.26, Wisconsin residency is required for LTE appointments. The definition of Wisconsin residency for LTE employment can be found here.
