Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is recruiting to fill a full-time Physician Assistant position in Mauston, WI. 

SRSTC opened in 2001 and provides care and treatment for several different patient populations. The center houses Wisconsin’s Sexually Violent Persons Program, provides care and treatment for persons found not guilty by reasons of mental disease or mental defect, and provides court ordered treatment, testing, and education to patients found not competent to stand trial.  SRSTC is a 500-bed treatment facility and is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). Watch this video to learn more about the work of DCTS.

As SRSTC’s Physician Assistant (PA), you will provide medical services for individuals residing at the facility. This includes but is not limited to performing physical exams and routine therapeutic procedures, counseling patients on preventive care and medication use, conducting mental health status exams, updating patient records, and working closely with other medical providers as part of the interdisciplinary team. 

The starting salary is up to $63.98 per hour (approximately $133,000 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. 

The pay schedule/range is 11/01. Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.

• All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after to their start date.
• DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
• All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following: 

• Licensure, or eligible for licensure, in the State of Wisconsin as a Physician Assistant as determined by the Medical Examining Board per s. 448.05(5), Wis. Stats. Eligible is defined as currently licensed as a PA in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in Wisconsin. Licensure in WI must be obtained within 3 months of hire.    
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Experience using best practice medical standards.

Well-qualified applicants will also one or more of the following:

• Experience working as a Physician Assistant. 
• Experience working with patients with mental health disorders.
• Experience using Cerner EHR for medical documentation.
