Introduction

 

The Department of Health Services (DHS)Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is currently recruiting for a Clinical Dietitian. This position will work Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. 

MMHI is located on the north side of Madison and offers a beautiful campus environment, convenient free parking and an onsite workout facility. MMHI is an inpatient psychiatric facility, with one outpatient program, specializing in serving patients with complex psychiatric conditions, often combined with certain problem behaviors. Position Summary

 

As the Clinical Dietitian, you will be responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive clinical dietetics program.  This includes nutritional assessments, formulation of dietary care plans, provision of nutrition education services and implementation of therapeutic dietary policies and procedures. You will also provide nutrition consultation to medical staff, patient unit staff, Food and Nutrition Services employees and students. 

Salary Information

 

Pay for this position is $31.11 and $34.50 per hour (approximately between $64,700 and $71,700 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. 

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 11/04.

Job Details

 

All applicants will be required to allow the DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled. 

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by MMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

 

Minimally qualified applicants will have:

  • Registered Dietitian or eligible for registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.  Candidates must provide proof of eligibility at the time of interview.  Candidate must be registered at the time of hire. 
  • Certified Dietitian or eligible for certification by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.  If eligible, candidate must become certified with the State of Wisconsin within 3 months of hire.  This eligibility will be verified as part of the interview process.
  • Training or experience providing nutrition assessments and developing nutritional treatment plans.  

Well-qualified applicants will have one or more of the following: 

  • Experience working in a mental health setting (hospital, care facility, correctional facility, etc.).  
  • Experience working with Nutrition treatment models for clinical dysfunctions such as substance abuse, eating disorders, adolescent nutrition, etc.  
  • Training and/or experience working with computer programs such as: Electronic Health Records software (e.g. Epic, Cerner) and food service software programs such as CBORD.
