The Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK) is seeking a full-time Operations Program Associate, to serve as a Medical Transportation Scheduler for Members residing at our facility. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that provides comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Position Summary

 

Under general supervision, the Medical Transportation Scheduler schedules members' medical, diagnostic, and treatment appointments and arranges transportation to/from the appointments.  The position coordinates the arrangements and records for outside medical treatments; collaborates with the healthcare team to determine the type(s) of transportation that can be scheduled based on ambulation, cognition and special needs of the member, as well as applicable regulations and facility policies and procedures regarding payment source and cost to the facility; and collaborates with other work units and outside facilities to develop processes which ensure all legal authorizations and documents are completed and sent prior to the appointment or with the member.

Salary Information

 

Starting wage is $22.31 per hour.

This position is in pay schedule-pay range 02-11. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.

Job Details

 

The Medical Transportation Scheduler works Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. no weekends or holidays and infrequent overtime.

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

 

The required qualification that will be reviewed in the first step of the process is: 

  • Experience using computers to complete work tasks (e.g., email, calendar, internet searches, scheduling software, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Voice Over Internet Protocol phones, conference/meeting software, etc.)

Additional qualifications that will be reviewed in next steps are experience:

  • Multitasking; and
  • Providing customer service; and
  • Using Microsoft Office Suite to complete work tasks; and/or
  • Scheduling (e.g., staff, travel, appointments, etc.)
  • Training or experience using medical terminology
