Introduction

 

The Department of Health Services (DHS)Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant.

MMHI is located on the north side of Madison and offers a beautiful campus environment, convenient free parking and an onsite workout facility. MMHI is an inpatient psychiatric facility, with one outpatient program, specializing in serving patients with complex psychiatric conditions, often combined with certain problem behaviors. MMHI is an integral part of the entire Wisconsin mental health service delivery system.

Position Summary

 

As the Physician Assistant, you will provide primary medical care for Institute patients, participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, and work as a cooperative partner within the Medical Clinic

Salary Information

 

The starting pay can be up to $63.98 per hour (approximately up to $133,000), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. 

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in the pay schedule and range 11/01.

*An add-on of $1.00 per hour may be paid for bilingual skills in Spanish.

Job Details

 

All applicants will be required to allow the DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled. 

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by MMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

 

Minimally qualified applicants will have the following:

Well-qualified applicants will also have one of the following:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience delivering care in a primary care medicine setting. 
  • Experience working with an electronic medical record system such as Cerner to document patient cares. 
  • Experience collaborating cares with tertiary specialists to ensure proper care is being rendered. 

*Note: If applicable, the selected candidate will be required to complete a language assessment in order to receive the add-on pay described above.
