
The Wisconsin State Capitol Police is seeking qualified and dedicated candidates for the position of Executive Residence Detail (ERD) Specialist. This Capitol Police Officer position is a sworn, uniformed law enforcement role assigned to the Executive Residence – home to the Governor and First Family of Wisconsin.
This vital position is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the Governor’s Residence and providing protection for the Governor, First Family, staff, and visitors. With frequent events hosted at the Residence throughout the year, this position plays a key role in event security, visitor screening, and threat response.
This position focuses on monitoring and operating security systems, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems, conducting access control screening and vetting of all individuals entering the property, providing physical security for the residence, staff, guests, and visitors, and responding to any incidents, threats, or emergencies at the Residence.
This position requires strong observational, communication, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and make quick decisions while under pressure. Candidates with prior experience in security or executive protection are encouraged to apply!
The current work schedule is well-suited for a work-life balance while still providing overtime opportunities. ERD Specialists work a maximum of three consecutive days with a three-day weekend, every other week. Two days of vacation can get you seven days off. ERD Specialists work 15 days a month, 182 days a year. That’s less than half a year when factoring in other leave time.
Located in downtown Madison, the State Capitol Police Department (CPD) is responsible for providing Police and Security services to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, legislators, Supreme Court, visiting dignitaries, state facilities and citizens of the State of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin State Capitol Police has statewide jurisdiction and investigates criminal, domestic, and traffic related incidents throughout the State of Wisconsin.
