The Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove (WVHUG) is seeking a Veterans Home Assistant Administrator, to serve as Assistant Director of the WVHUG campus. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations in southeastern Wisconsin. Come join our dedicated team!

Position Summary

 

Under the direction of the Veterans Home Administrator (Commandant), the Veterans Home Assistant Administrator (Deputy Commandant) administers assigned programs within WVHUG.  Responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance with state, federal, and Veterans Administration laws, rules, and regulations; providing budgetary and programmatic oversight; evaluating program performance; and supervising staff to ensure high quality care and services are provided to residents. The incumbent develops and maintains effective liaison within WDVA and with other state and federal agencies to ensure program compliance; and initiates, develops, maintains liaisons with, and speaks before community, statewide, regional, and national organizations concerned with veterans’ long-term care issues and policies. The Deputy Commandant acts as the Administrator-of-Record with complete line authority and responsibility for WVHUG operations, in absence of or as designated by, the Commandant.

Salary Information

 

Starting salary will be between $106,620 - $120,910 per year, depending on candidate qualifications, plus an attractive employee benefits package.

This position is in pay schedule-pay range 81-01. For current State employees, pay on appointment will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan.

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

 

This position works Monday through Friday and requires adjusting or increasing work hours as needed to meet WVHUG operational needs, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

A two-year Career Executive trial period may be required.

Qualifications

 

This position requires that the incumbent hold a current Wisconsin Nursing Home Administrator license within 120 days of appointment. Click the link to view information on Wisconsin licensing requirements.

Additional required and preferred qualifications that will be assessed later in the selection process are leadership experience:

  • As a Nursing Home Administrator; and
  • With program management; and
  • Performing budgetary functions; and
  • Supervising staff; and
  • Problem solving; and/or
  • With policy and procedure evaluation, development, and implementation; and/or
  • With Quality Assurance Performance Improvement initiatives; and/or
  • In change management; and/or
  • In crisis management
