Introduction

 

The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA), Construction and Facility Management Office (CFMO), is seeking a Limited Term Employment, Facilities Repair Worker-Advanced position located at Fort McCoy. 

The DMA provides essential, effective, and responsive military and emergency management capability for the citizens of our state and nation. During emergencies, no single organization can handle the response. The DMA consists of several organizations working together to plan, prepare, coordinate, and respond effectively when our communities and neighbors need us the most.

Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status. However, they lead to great work experience opportunities.

Position Summary

 

This position is responsible for general buildings and ground maintenance and upkeep at Fort McCoy and other Area 3 facilities which include Arcadia, Black River Falls, Neillsville, Onalaska, Viroqua, Sparta and Tomah armories.  Completes inspections and accomplishes minor maintenance, repair, and structural alterations on mechanical and building systems.  Completes all required preventative maintenance functions and meets all interval requirements.  Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment to accomplish all job-related duties.  Will assist in custodial duties at select Armories. Will assist with lawn mowing and snow removal operations using snow removal equipment when necessary. Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork.This position is responsible for general buildings and ground maintenance and upkeep at Fort McCoy and other Area 3 facilities which includes: Arcadia, Black River Falls, Neillsville, Onalaska, Viroqua, Sparta, and Tomah armories. Salary Information

 

Pay will be $21.53 per hour.

Job Details

 

Limited Term Employees must be a resident of Wisconsin.

Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment. 

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, twist and climb ladders.

In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check. 

Previous or current military experience is not a requirement. 

The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9. 

All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.

Qualifications

 

Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will have training and/or experience with:

  • Building custodial services, mechanical repair, and maintenance principles.
  • General groundskeeping and landscaping methods/procedures, operating and repairing grounds maintenance equipment.
