The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove is recruiting for part-time and full-time Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), to provide direct and indirect care to our residents. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Come join our quality nursing team!

Position Summary

 

Want to experience the rewards of providing care to Wisconsin veterans?

Our LPNs are responsible for providing quality, routine, direct and indirect patient care for geriatric and/or disabled members of WVHUG. Duties include assisting the Registered Nurses in making critical observations of clients and assisting in complex care situations; working directly with families; assisting in personal care; administering and documenting treatments and medication; participating in the maintenance of the care unit; and working with an interdisciplinary team.

Salary Information

 

Starting pay is between $29.42 and $37.83 per hour, depending on years of professional experience, with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Full-time positions and some part-time positions are eligible for an attractive benefits package.

This position is in pay schedule-range 06-05. For current State employees, pay on appointment will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan.

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

 

Our LPN positions work multiple shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Job duties require the ability to move, reposition and transport patients, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, sit, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.

 

Qualifications

 

These jobs require licensure or eligiblity for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
