The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is recruiting for a/an Nurse Clinician 2 (RN), to join our dedicated Nursing team. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that provides comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations in southeastern Wisconsin.

Position Summary

 

Want to experience the rewards of providing care to Wisconsin veterans?

Our Nurse Clinician 2’s are responsible for providing 

 direct and indirect patient care to a mostly geriatric and/or disabled population. The incumbent provides direction to other staff in the provision and coordination of member care and monitors care given by other health team members on a unit, floor, or in a building. 

 All activities are performed in accordance with applicable industry standards of practice, facility policies/procedures, and state and federal rules and regulations.

Salary Information

 

Starting wage is between $42.86 and $49.61 per hour, depending on years of professional experience, with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. Full-time positions and some part-time positions are eligible for an attractive benefit package.

 A sign-on bonus of $3000 for eligible new hires with no prior state service in the last five years, who stay with the facility in the position until completing probation. The bonus will be split, $1500 upon hire and $1500 after completing probation.

Nurse Clinician 2 is in pay schedule-pay range 11-02. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

 

Hiring for: 1 PM 60% FTE; 1 PM 80% FTE and 1 NOC 80% (Part-Time)

All part-time and full-time, Nurse Clinician 2 positions work multiple shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Job duties require the ability to provide patients with assistance in mobility efforts, positioning or repositioning; perform transfers and mechanical lifts/transfers; maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing; lift, carry, push, pull and reach; work standing, sitting, kneeling or in squatting positions; and stand and/or walk, up to 75 percent of eight-hour day.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimally qualified applicants will:

  • have a current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact state, or 
  • be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Wisconsin or Nurse Licensure Compact prior to hire.
