The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), has multiple openings for Therapy Assistant – Entry or Objective level positions to serve as part of the team at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK). WVHK provides professional long-term skilled nursing care as well as short term rehabilitative stays. The campus is located off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton and is set on scenic Rainbow Lake, spanning 42 tree-lined acres.

Position Summary

 

These positions participate and assist in the development and implementation of the activity therapy program at the Veterans Home. This includes assisting with planning the activity program, maintaining records pertinent to care plans, and directing the efforts of volunteers and other staff assisting with activities on- and off-campus.

Salary Information

 

The starting pay rate for Therapy Assistant – Entry is $18.98 an hour. The starting pay rate for Therapy Assistant – Objective is $22.20 an hour. The level offered will be based on candidate qualifications.

The Therapy Assistant – Entry level classification is in pay schedule and range 06-10. Therapy Assistant – Objective is in pay schedule and range 06-12. Compensation for current State employees may vary and will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

 

The core work hours for these positions will be 11:00AM - 7:30PM, with rotating day shift weekend and holiday hours (8:00AM - 4:30PM).

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

Job duties require the ability to assist patients weighing up to 350 pounds with their mobility needs, push carts weighing up to 75 pounds, and frequently move equipment weighing up to 30 pounds from carts to table.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.

The incumbent must meet the requirements to operate a State of Wisconsin Fleet vehicle.

Qualifications
