Introduction

 

Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI) is looking to hire a Director of Psychology with flexibility to be either part-time or full-time (between 0.75 and 1.0 FTE). This position will typically work daytime hours from Monday to Friday with occasional on-call responsibilities as needed by the facility. WMHI is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

Position Summary

 

As the Director of Psychology you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Providing leadership for institutional psychological services staff through research projects, professional meetings, and recruitment. 
  • Modeling ethical behavior to assure services of the institute and the Psychology Department are in compliance with relevant Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Standards (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC) and APA standards of care for psychological services. 
  • Participating as a professional psychologist on the WMHI administrative team. 

Salary Information

 

Starting annual salary* is between $61.83 to $69.51 per hour (approximately between $128,600 and $144,500 per year for full time hours) depending on experience, plus excellent benefits.

 

·         *Salary includes $6/hr add-on for Doctorate and $5/hr add-on for WI licensure.

·         A 24-month Career Executive trial period is required.

 

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Psychologist Supervisor and is in pay schedule and range is 81/02.  

Job Details

 

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to complete a pre-employment health assessment including a TB screen prior to their start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

 

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • PhD or PsyD in Psychology and licensed or eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Wisconsin. If eligible, must obtain Wisconsin license by date of appointment.
  • Experience delivering psychological services to individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities in a licensed hospital or clinical setting. 
  • Experience working with standards of professional practice of psychology including civil commitment processes and/or forensic competency assessment and restoration.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment including both professional standards of care and regulatory agency oversight (APA and CMS, TJC, state or local regulations).

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Board certification in Forensic or Clinical Psychology. 
  • Supervisory or management in a regulated healthcare environment that provides civil and/or forensic mental health care.
  • Experience and/or formal training in quality management and quality improvement principles and practices.
