The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is currently recruiting for multiple part-time Nursing Assistant 2-Weekend (Weekend Certified Nursing Assistants) positions. WVHUG is a 24/7/365 skilled-nursing, long-term-care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled Wisconsin veterans and their spouses. Our facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Come join our quality care team!

Sign-On Bonus of $2000 for eligible employees who agree to remain in the job for one year. The first $1000 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and the second $1000 will be paid when the employee attains permanent status.

Position Summary

Weekend Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) at WVHUG provide direct and indirect patient care, following standards set by the American Nurses Association; gerontological nursing practice; federal, state and Veterans Administration regulations; and the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of this agency. Job duties include providing care per a written care plan to help meet the needs of WVHUG members, including care to help maintain the demented member at the highest functional level. CNAs work as an integral part of the health care team, under the direction of licensed nursing staff, with limited supervision by a Nursing Supervisor.

Salary Information

 

Starting pay of $24.56 -$27.60 per hour depending on years of state service.  Additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.  

Positions that are at least 60% time are eligible for an attractive benefits package. 

Sign-on bonus of $2000 for eligible new hires.

Weekend Certified Nursing Assistant positions are not eligible for personal holiday or paid legal holidays. Weekend Certified Nursing Assistants will receive pay at a rate of time and one-half for work performed on a legal holiday.

This position is in pay schedule-range 06-11.

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

 

Weekend CNAs work a set shift pattern on Sunday, Friday, and Saturday, minimally working 24 to 36 hours a week. These positions are scheduled up to 12 hours per shift.

Core Shift Available

PM 2nd Shift - 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm

Job duties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

 

These jobs require certification or eligibility for certification as a Wisconsin Nurse Aide and eligibility to work in a federally-certified nursing home as a CNA.
