The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is seeking multiple limited-term employment (LTE) Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide direct and indirect care to our members. WVHUG is a 24/7/365 skilled-nursing, long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled Wisconsin veterans and their spouses. Our facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Come join our dedicated nursing team!

These are flexible part-time positions with the option to pick up additional hours as desired with no required overtime. Shifts are available AM, PM, NOC, weekends and holidays, and include pay differentials.

Position Summary

Our LPNs are responsible for providing quality, routine direct and indirect patient care on a unit. Duties include assisting the Registered Nurse in making critical observations of clients and assisting in complex care situations; working directly with families; providing assistance in personal care; administering and documenting treatments and medication; participating in the maintenance of care unit; and working with an interdisciplinary team.

Salary Information

 

Starting wage is $28.00 per hour, with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.

This position is in pay schedule-pay range 06-05. 

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

 

Core Shifts Available

  • AM 1st Shift - 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • PM 2nd Shift - 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • NOC 3rd Shift - 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

**LTEs may work partial shifts on request.**

Job duties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing. Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

Employees at this healthcare facility are required to provide their COVID-19 vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, by date of hire, and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. The Wisconsin Veterans Homes continue to follow necessary health and safety protocols for COVID-19, which are subject to change, depending on public health considerations.  

LTE jobs are limited to 1039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits.

Qualifications

 

Minimally qualified applicants will be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Practical Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact State and will have experience:

  • Providing basic nursing care; and
  • Administering medications; and
  • Working collaboratively; and
  • Using computer systems and applications

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:

  • Providing advanced nursing care; and/or
  • Providing nursing care in a long-term care, geriatric, or skilled nursing setting
